I’m bringing Bing Futch to Logan for a special mountain dulcimer workshop. Bing, traveling here all the way from Florida, is one of the most respected, diverse, and innovative mountain dulcimer players in the United States! His picture is included on the Appalachian dulcimer Wikipedia page. The cost of workshop is only $25. The projected date is September 28, 2015. For more information, go to BingFutch.com or contact me.
My Music History
I’ve had 50 years of musical fun with the guitar, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, and a few other instruments. I played in the Dayton Mandolin orchestra for a few years. That’s a revival of the mandolin orchestras that were all the rage all across the country from about 1890-1920. The photo below shows the Dayton Mandolin orchestra playing in the lobby of the Schuster Center before a Dayton (Ohio) Philharmonic Orchestra concert.
Over the years, I’ve also done lots of song leading, guitar and mandolin playing, band leading, and choir directing at Methodist churches, retreat weekends, and Ohio prisons.
